Dear T.C.,

Inspired by reports from Scotland, Wales, Ireland and England, an 18th century pastor issued a call to prayer. His little book had a big title: “A Humble Attempt to Promote Explicit Agreement and Visible Union of God’s People in Extraordinary Prayer for the Revival of Religion and the Advancement of Christ’s Kingdom on earth, pursuant to scripture promises and prophesies concerning the last time.”  It became the catalyst for the Concerts of Prayer movement. Jonathan Edwards himself was an eye witness to the Great Awakenings, powerful movements of God that served to shape the character of our emerging nation.
